In mid-March of 2020, in the middle of a class I was teaching, we were told to stop what we were doing and go home. The Governor mandated a “stay at home” order, because of the increased spread of COVID, which began an 18 month journey of isolation and lockdown. Although I was worried about the health of family and friends, I was not concerned about having to stay home. My introverted self welcomed it. My first project was to create a sacred space in my home where I could continue teaching online and engage in creativity- painting mostly. I welcomed the time to be quiet, to meditate and think, to help each and every one of my students (virtually), and to make the emotional space for my painting practice. My life was forever changed, and through it all, I was grateful.
